Lacoste x Roland-Garros 2020: “on court” and “off court”

Roland-Garros and Lacoste are presenting a new co-branded collection for the famous Parisian Grand Slam.

Roland-Garros and Lacoste represent the perfect blend of sport and French elegance. A long-term partner of the Parisian tournament since 1971, the Crocodile brand founded by René Lacoste has been the exclusive textile partner of Roland-Garros since the 2019 tournament. This year, for the first time, Lacoste will not only dress Team Lacoste’s players and supporters, but also all of the tournament’s ballkids, umpires and line judges.

To celebrate this exclusive collaboration, Roland-Garros and Lacoste are unveiling their new co-branded textile collection, made up of two product lines: one line to be worn on court and a more casual line for every day. The collection also includes a range of bags as well as a new line of sunglasses decorated with the two French brands’ logos.

Lacoste has a special relationship with Roland-Garros. Nicknamed “The Crocodile”, René Lacoste was one of France’s four Mousquetaires – along with Jean Borotra, Jacques Brugnon and Henri Cochet – a legendary quartet of 1920s tennis champions. As the brand’s original sport, tennis has a special place in Lacoste’s DNA. Roland-Garros, where the great Crocodile wore his first polo shirt, is a key event for the brand, enabling it to strengthen its ties with its original audience.

On-court performance

The Team Lacoste co-branded collection with Roland-Garros shakes up the brand’s traditional pieces to blend technicality with style. The range is made up of six items for men and seven for women, combining graphic design, eye-catching contrasts and optimum comfort. The pieces are made from technical fabric in a bid to boost the wearer’s sporting performance. The ultra-dry piqué polo shirts, lightweight taffeta leggings and jackets, tennis dresses and printed t-shirts are available in a minimalist, chic and traditional colour palette, enhanced with eye-catching accents. They make up a comprehensive, must-have wardrobe designed for players from Team Lacoste as well as amateur tennis players, all of whom fly the flag for the sport’s values. Young tennis fans can support their favourite player by wearing the brand’s essentials, which are available in girls’ and boys’ sizes.

In a crocodile’s skin

Specially designed for the modern-day Crocodile, the Novak Djokovic collection is inspired by the athlete’s style and performance on the legendary Parisian clay. His tenacity and talent are expressed through this dynamic, highly graphic collection based around two full outfits – one red and the other white – that are ideal for players of all levels.

From the stands to the street

Decidedly elegant and metropolitan, the co-branded Lacoste x Roland-Garros 2020 lifestyle collection brings tennis style and the Parisian tournament’s vibe into everyday life this season.

Echoing the brand’s tennis heritage, Lacoste have included plenty of nods to the sport’s fashion codes while giving them an urban twist. This chic and sporty wardrobe is ideal for day-to-day wear by fans in the stands as well as in the city.

Borrowing from the minimalist and colour-block trends that are everywhere this season, this array of essential and timeless pieces is available in a palette of bright and traditional colours: green, navy blue, red, orange, white, pale green. The lifestyle range also includes a selection of tote bags, vertical zip bags and casual backpacks. 

The iconic crocodile logo, designed by Robert Georges, and the emblematic tournament logo feature on every item in this brand-new collection.
