Thank you and goodnight...

What a conclusion to Day 7 in Paris. As the dust settles on Chatrier after one of the matches of the year it's time to say farewell. We'll be back with fourth round action on Sunday - Day 8 - as players battle for quarter-final spots.

Singles play starts at 11am. We'll see you then...

>> SUNDAY ORDER OF PLAY

03:08

VICTORY FOR DJOKOVIC

What a night. What a match. What a comeback.

World No.1 Novak Djokovic hits back from two sets to one down against an inspired Lorenzo Musetti to finally fight his way past the Italian 7-5, 6-7(6), 2-6, 6-3, 6-0 after 4 hours and 29 minutes on Chatrier in a match that finished at 3.06am on Sunday morning.

The result earns Djokovic, a three-time champion in Paris, a meeting with Argentina’s Francisco Cerundolo in the last 16 on Monday and means his title defence is still alive.

Early in the fourth it seemed Musetti was the more likely winner but from 2-2 in that set Djokovic found more energy, greater intensity and another level of tennis to start to pull away from the 22-year-old.

The victory means Djokovic draws level with Roger Federer in career Grand Slam match wins, both now tied at the top of that leaderboard on 369 victories at the majors.

02:52

Djokovic surges ahead

What a start to the decider Djokovic has made. The world No.1 breaks for 2-0, holds for a three-game cushion and secures a double break and a 4-0 advantage to take him to within two games of victory.

02:43

Musetti magic

We've been treated to three incredible shots and points today in Paris. Tomas Machac hit two consecutive left-handed forehands (the second one a winning pass) to snatch a point against Daniil Medvedev. Casper Ruud produced a tweener pass in his victory over Tomas Martin Etcheverry, and here's Lorenzo Musetti's backhand pass during the penultimate game of the fourth set a few minutes ago. A hat-trick of hotshots...

02:32

Into a fifth at 2.30am

We’ve just witnessed five minutes of quite ridiculous shot-making from these two men.

Novak Djokovic flicks the switch from 2-2 in the fourth, suddenly finds more energy, some bigger groundstrokes and a new level of tennis to take control of the set.

He breaks for 3-2, quickly extends his lead to 5-2 and despite then dropping serve – largely thanks to an incredible backhand pass from the Italian in the eighth game – Djokovic breaks for a third time to wrap up the set 6-3 at just gone 2.30am after 3 hours and 48 minutes on Chatrier.

Champion’s mentality from the Serb. What does Musetti have left in the tank?

02:12

Djokovic breaks for 3-2

The world No.1 produces the best game he's played for some time to grab the first break in the fourth set and with it a 3-2 lead. The Serb suddenly picked up his power off the ground and he converts his second break point when a Musetti forehand pass drops long. Is the momentum starting to swing back towards the top seed? He turns to the Paris crowd gesturing for more noise as he heads to his chair.

01:44

Musetti a set from victory

Young Italian Lorenzo Musetti is a set away from the biggest win of his career, up two sets to one on world No.1 Novak Djokovic as the time approaches 1.45am on Court Philippe-Chatrier.

After breaking in the fourth game of the third set, the world No.30 serves well enough to hang on to his lead and he breaks again for good measure to close out the set 6-2.

Musetti looks the fresher of the two men after three sets played and is a strong favourite now to finish this off and move into the fourth round at the expense of the 24-time Grand Slam champion.

01:26

Musetti leads Djokovic 5-7, 7-6(6), 4-1

Lorenzo Musetti is the first to break serve in the third. Is the Italian starting to take control against the three-time champion? The Italian saves a break point at 1-1, eventually holds for a 2-1 lead and comes out firing to break to love for a 3-1 advantage. The 22-year-old is starting to win the longer points on a more regular basis and he holds to 30 to extend his lead.

01:05

Second set Musetti!

Well, that changes the complexion of this Djokovic-Musetti contest at just gone 1am in Paris.

The Italian fights back from 4-1 down early in the set, saves a set point in the tiebreak and wraps up the shootout with a backhand volley to level the match at one set all 5-7, 7-6(6).

Will the Serb live to regret missing that set point on serve at 6-5 in the tiebreak?

It’s been high quality tennis from both, particularly over the closing stages of that second set and it’ll be fascinating viewing watching the opening few games of this third set unfold.

This is a big test for Novak now during the early hours of Sunday morning. The world No.1 will need all his experience to navigate his way to victory.

00:50

Ruu-thless Ruud

Late in the day on Lenglen, No.7 seed Casper Ruud is back in the last 16 after a four-set win over Argentine Tomas Martin Etcheverry 6-4, 1-6, 6-2, 6-2.

If you missed the Norwegian’s hotshot extraordinaire midway through the match – a tweener winner after a brilliant point from both players – make sure you track it down on the official Roland-Garros social media.

Midnight magic

It's almost Sunday morning in Paris and STILL the stars are producing moments like this 😲😲😲

23:50

Fritz in five

American 12th seed Taylor Fritz - or should that be CLAY-lor Fritz - continues his good season on the 'dirt' with passage into the fourth round in Paris for the first time...

23:36

Djokovic edges tight first set 7-5

That was a high quality set between Novak Djokovic and Lorenzo Musetti and it's the Serb world No.1 who breaks in the 12th game to go ahead by one set to love.

Musetti played a loose game at 5-6, throwing in three unforced errors to find himself down 15-40. The Italian put another backhand long at the end of a punishing all-court exchange on set point that left Djokovic doubled over catching his breath after he’d finally wrapped up a 55-minute opener.

On Court 14 Thanasi Kokkinakis has taken Taylor Fritz into a fifth set and on Lenglen Tomas Martin Etcheverry wins the second set 6-1 to leave his match with Casper Ruud at one set apiece.

Hear from Daniil

Medvedev spoke to the press following his third round rollercoaster clash with Czech Tomas Machac. Medvedev eventually came through in four sets 7-6(4), 7-5, 1-6, 6-4 and now faces No.11 seed Alex de Minaur in the last 16.

23:05

22:13

Rune, Dimitrov into last 16

After his dramatic five-set, second round win over Flavio Cobolli it was far more straightforward for Holger Rune on Saturday night as he brushed aside Jozef Kovalik 7-5, 6-1, 7-6(2). The result sets him up with a fourth round meeting with Alexander Zverev.

And moments later on Chatrier, Grigor Dimitrov ended the run of Belgian qualifier Zizou Bergs in four sets 6-3, 7-6(4), 4-6, 6-4 to confirm a meeting with Hubert Hurkacz on Sunday.

Thanasi Kokkinakis won a third set breaker against Taylor Fritz to take their meeting into a fourth set - the American is up two sets to one.

Casper Ruud and Tomas Martin Etcheverry are in the early stages of their third round match, the last of the day on Lenglen.

21:47

New territory for Navarro

Emma Navarro is the latest player into the fourth round of a major for the first time after edging out fellow American Madison Keys in two tiebreak sets on Lenglen.

The 23-year-old former college player had to hold her nerve over the closing stages after seeing a 5-3 lead disappear in the second set. She finally finished it 7-6(5), 7-6(3) after an hour and 52 minutes.

On Monday she’ll be back to play second seed Aryna Sabalenka in the last 16.

That means all the women’s third round matches are now complete. Fourth round matches in the top half of the women's draw are played on Sunday.

Night session incoming

19:48

Italian charge continues

No.12 seed Jasmine Paolini becomes the fourth Italian into the last 16 in Paris with a strong finish on Court 3 to beat Canadian Bianca Andreescu 6-1, 3-6, 6-0. That makes it fourth round showings in Australia and now France at Grand Slam level for the 28-year-old this year and she joins fellow Italians Jannik Sinner, Matteo Arnaldi and Elisabetta Cocciaretto in the second week at Roland-Garros. Lorenzo Musetti could make it five through if he beats Novak Djokovic in the Chatrier night session.

19:33

Zverev scrambles into R4

Fourth seed Alexander Zverev comes back from the brink to beat Dutchman Tallon Griekspoor in five thrilling sets having trailed by a double break at 1-4 in the decider.

It looked like Griekspoor had wrapped it up when he broke for a second time in the fifth before Zverev slowly but surely clawed his way back into it to win 3-6, 6-4, 6-2, 4-6, 7-6(3), sealing victory with an ace.

The result extends Zverev’s win streak to nine matches after he claimed the Rome Masters title before travelling to Paris. He plays Holger Rune or Jozef Kovalik next.

On Lenglen Hubert Hurkacz has finally finished off Denis Shapovalov in four sets. He’ll be back tomorrow to take on Zizou Bergs or Grigor Dimitrov.

19:23

First RG R4 for Andreeva

Teenager Mirra Andreeva wastes no time moving into the last 16 here for the first time in her young career when she completely outplays American Peyton Stearns 6-2, 6-1 in 67 minutes on Court 2.

The 17-year-old has now made the fourth round at three of the four Grand Slams and plays the last French player in the draw on Monday, Varvara Gracheva.

On Court 12 Elina Svitolina has taken the first set off Ana Bogdan 7-5.

It's hotting up on Chatrier.

17:38

Schedule change

It's been a wet afternoon in Paris which has forced changes to Saturday's order of play. When it dries up the focus will be finishing the third round singles matches yet to be completed and a couple of those have been shunted onto the main show courts to help out.

Grigor Dimitrov and Zizou Bergs will finish their contest on Chatrier before the Djokovic-Musetti night match gets under way.
