Roland-Garros is the first Grand Slam tournament to become truly “Open”. This year’s event is a real hit with the fans, over 100,000 of whom are in attendance. After being the youngest winner of the tournament in 1953, Australia’s Ken Rosewall becomes the oldest, at 33 years and seven months. USA’s Nancy Richey follows on from Françoise Dürr in the ranks of women’s singles winners.
