Swiatek wins 6-2, 6-4

Iga Swiatek moves into her fourth Roland Garros final with a straight-sets defeat of third seed Coco Gauff on Chatrier in the first women’s semi-final of the day.

The world No.1 and three-time former champion won her 20th consecutive match at the French major, a 6-2, 6-4 victory to move into Saturday’s final.

After a comfortable opening set, Swiatek trailed 3-1 in the second only to win five of the last six games as she closed in on the finish line.

The Pole will face either Italy’s Jasmine Paolini or Mirra Andreeva in the final. They will contest the second semi-final on Chatrier from 5pm this afternoon.

16:24

Iga up a set and a break

It's all Swiatek all of a sudden as she holds for 3-3 then breaks again to make it three games on the bounce. The Pole is ahead 6-2, 4-3 serving, and is just a couple of holds away from her fourth Roland-Garros final.

Coco fighting

The second set is much tighter so far, and this time it’s Coco Gauff who gets the first break to go up 3-1 to a deafening roar from the Chatrier crowd.

In the previous game, the American got involved in a disagreement with the chair umpire after a call that she felt went against her. It feels like the Paris crowd felt she was hard done by and are behind her now, hoping for a final set.

But Gauff can’t consolidate and Swiatek responds immediately to break back. Swiatek serving at 2-3…

First set Swiatek 6-2

A strong hold of serve for the American gets the scores back to 5-2 as they change ends before Swiatek serves out the opening set 6-2 after 37 minutes. Comfortable for the Pole so far and she has one foot in another Roland-Garros final…

15:35

Swiatek winning big points

Swiatek has come under a fair bit of pressure on serve but she's played the big points well so far. The Pole saved a break point in each of her opening two service games - but held each time - to go ahead 3-1. Coco has been going big off the forehand early on but it's been hit and miss so far - she hit nine unforced errors in the opening four games.

And Swiatek breaks again for 4-1 first set...

15:10

Swiatek-Gauff under way

We're off and running on Chatrier as top seed and defending champion Iga Swiatek takes on third seed Coco Gauff for a place in the final - this is our first semi-final of two this afternoon.
