Sabalenka was in a league of her own on hard court, however, and soon to be queen of all she surveyed. A winner in Cincinnati, she maintained her unbeaten run to fulfil a dream at the US Open and pick up a third Grand Slam. A loser to Coco Gauff in the 2023 final, she got the better of another American, Pegula, on this occasion, prevailing 7-5 7-5 in one hour 53 minutes.
