Following an elbow operation at the end of last year, Stefanos Tsitsipas was unsure if he would be fit in time for Melbourne. The Greek will be pleased that he was. A semi-finalist last year, he grew in strength as the tournament went on, recording a convincing win over Jannik Sinner to reach the last four again, only to lose in four sets to Daniil Medvedev, his vanquisher in 2021.
