Round 6: Bouttier vs Duran, 10 June 1971

The noble art returned to the court central after a 24-year absence, this time with a European Boxing Union middleweight title fight between France’s Jean-Claude Bouttier and defending champion Carlo Duran of Italy.

The venue was hit by a downpour just before the fight and a tarpaulin installed above the ring to keep the ring dry. The conditions did not hamper Bouttier, however, as he took the title from the Italian.
