On 7 July 2021, Federer played the 1526th and last match of his professional career at his beloved Wimbledon, losing in the quarter-finals to Hubert Hurkacz. Another knee operation followed for the player, who had won 103 titles and 1251 matches and spent 310 weeks as world No. 1, some 237 of them consecutive.
