Three to see: Serena's big test
Their competitive spirit was evident in every point played. At 5-1 in the deciding set, Serena served for the match. The game was won to love, courtesy of two immense serves and two Venus volleys. As the three-set scoreline reflects, it was match that provided the Williamses with valuable match practice. Aoyama and Kato were taking part in the doubles draw at Roland-Garros for the first-time, but their nimble play belied a 0-4 win-loss record on clay coming into the tournament.
