In the men’s draw, Zhizhen Zhang also made history by becoming the first Chinese man to reach the Round of 16 then the quarter-finals of a Masters 1000. After defeating Denis Shapovalov (World No.27 in Madrid), Cameron Norrie (World No.13) and Taylor Fritz (World No.10), his glorious run was halted by another of the main draw’s revelations, Aslan Karatsev.
