Alcaraz, Sabalenka make it a fiesta in Madrid
The player who recorded the most astounding run of the 2023 edition was undoubtedly Jan-Lennard Struff. Having won all of his matches in straight sets, the 33-year-old German player defeated Stefanos Tsitsipas (World No.5) before exacting revenge on the man who eliminated him in the qualifying rounds, Aslan Karatsev. This earned him the status as the first lucky-loser ever to reach the final of a Masters 1000.
