Despite losing the final of the ATP 500 in Beijing to Carlos Alcaraz (his third loss in three encounters with the Spaniard this season), Jannik Sinner resumed his upward trajectory just a couple of weeks later in Shanghai. There, a third consecutive victory against Novak Djokovic earned him a third Masters 1000 title of the season, a first since Nadal managed the feat in 2008.
